Department Head and Associate/Full Professor

Position Description:

The Department Head will provide creative and dynamic leadership to initiate and implement programs appropriate to education initiatives in the Department of Educational Leadership including a doctoral program, masters and certificate programs in both Educational Administration and Higher Education as well as masters programs in Educational Technology and Training and Development; recommend and supervise partnership contracts with community and state agencies, assist in the development of departmental grants; supervise the budget, personnel, and general operation of the department; represent the department on the College of Education Executive Council; and work in a collegial manner with faculty and staff. The faculty will consist of approximately 24 individuals of professorial rank.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Educational Leadership or related field from an accredited institution
  • Five years higher education teaching experience
  • Three years elementary or secondary teaching and/or administrative experience preK-12/Higher Education
  • Knowledge of research-based teaching in educational administration and higher education
  • A continuous record of scholarly research and publication
  • Familiar with application of Instructional Technology
  • Scholarly activity that will qualify for immediate appointment to senior graduate faculty status
  • A record of teaching, scholarship and service to qualify for the rank of Associate Professor/Professor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years or more of leadership experience in higher education
  • Chaired and/or served on doctoral dissertation committees
  • Leadership experience with UCEA, NCPEA or Community College professional organizations
  • Participation at the state and/or national level with PreK-12 professional associations
  • Participate with state and/or national professors of educational leadership
  • Eligible to meet departmental standards for tenure
  • A record of teaching, scholarship, and service to qualify for the rank of Professor
  • Experience in successful grant writing

Salary Range :

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Starting Date:

June 2006, or August 2006
