The College of Education and Human Development at Lamar University seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Professor level for the doctoral program. Lamar University is a member of the Texas State University System.

Doctoral Faculty in College of Education (Position 106252)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach doctoral level courses, supervise doctoral research and chair dissertation committees. The doctoral program is an innovative and interdisciplinary Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Taught in a weekend format, the program is structured to respond to the demand for educational leaders to meet school needs in the region, state and beyond. The program structure allows full-time teachers and administrators to receive education at the doctoral level.

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, Statistics and Research, Educational Policy Studies, Diversity Studies or a closely related field. Candidates should demonstrate teaching interests and scholarly expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantitative research, effective school leadership, school improvement, curricular and instructional leadership, developmental studies, adult learning and professional development, and/or work with special populations. Effective teaching experience at the graduate level with students who are highly qualified, experienced teachers and administrators is required. Prior experience in directing doctoral dissertations is needed.

Preferred candidates will have experience in PK-16 schools, a demonstrated record of scholarship appropriate to rank of appointment, experience as a school or district administrator, hold professional certification, and have a record of using innovative instructional techniques such as technological-based instruction, action research, and experiential pedagogies.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications

Appointment: Tenure-track, nine month appointment with summer employment available, appointment begins for Fall semester, 2006. Department appointment to be determined based on candidates expertise and background.

Position: Assistant/Associate Professor, Educational Leadership (Position 100453)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach master's level courses in School Administration and Principal and Superintendent Certification Programs, supervise student interns, advise students, perform service work with area schools, engage in research, be active in committee work and curriculum development, and work as a team member. (pending available funding)

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration or equivalent field. The successful candidate must be eligible for appointment to the Graduate College Faculty, have a demonstrated record or strong potential of scholarship, excellent interpersonal skills, PK-12 leadership experience, and the ability to create a positive learning climate with a diverse student population. Preferred candidates have successful experience in college teaching and hold or are eligible for certification as a principal and superintendent.
