Educational Leadership & Counseling

Position: Assistant/Associate or Full Professor – Tenure Track

Degree Requirements: Earned doctorate in educational leadership, counseling, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

Potential to publish and demonstrate ability to work as a team member. University experience would be helpful. Leadership experience in public schools, participation in professional organizations. Expertise in school guidance programs would be helpful.

Current knowledge in administration, supervision and research. Preferred Distance Education experience. Preferred certification as a principal and/or superintendent. Additionally, school counselor certification or licensed professional counselor would be helpful. Work collaboratively with other faculty, school districts and agencies, promote the programs and recruit students.

Environment:

Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville , 30 miles north of Greater Houston. The University has an enrollment of approximately 13,000 and a faculty of 500, is a member of UCEA, and NCATE accredited.

Usual Duties:

To teach graduate level courses, including on-line, in the innovative educational leadership program, advise and supervise graduate students in the programs. Further, the person will consult with local school districts and regional educational center, recruit new students into the educational leadership programs, and will conduct research and seek external funds.

Salary: $50,000 - 65,000 (9 months)

To work in the innovative masters and doctoral program in educational leadership and collaboratively work with other educational leadership faculty, school districts, community colleges, higher education institutions, and agencies; participate in professional organizations; demonstrate scholarly activity in research, grant writing, writing and professional presentations; teach the necessary courses for the graduate program in the educational leadership programs; serve on dissertation committees; and provide service to the department.

Salary: $50,000 - 55,000 (9 month)
